Privacy Policy

Overview
TabTap AAC is a communication tool built for children and the families who support them. Because it's used by kids, and often by kids who can't easily read a privacy policy themselves, we've kept our approach simple: we don't want your data, so we don't collect it. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.
What we collect
TabTap AAC does not require an account, a sign-up, or a login. As a result, we do not collect:
- Names, email addresses, or contact information
- A child's medical, diagnostic, or therapy information
- Location data
- Voice recordings of the person using the app
- Advertising identifiers, or any data used to serve ads
We do not operate a server-side database of app usage, sentences built, or words selected. Nothing you or your child does inside the app is transmitted to us.
Local storage & your data
To make the app useful day-to-day, a small amount of information is saved only on the device you're using, through your browser's local storage. This includes:
- App settings — theme, language (Bisaya/English), Big Buttons, Low Stimulation, and Focus Mode preferences
- Favorite Sentences — a record of frequently built phrases, kept so they can be reused quickly
This information never leaves the device. It is not visible to us, and it is not shared with anyone. Clearing your browser's site data, or using the app in a private/incognito window, will remove it.
In short: if you never told the app something, we don't know it. If you did, it's stored on your device, not ours.
Children's privacy
TabTap AAC is designed for use by children, typically with a parent, guardian, caregiver, or therapist present or supervising. Because the app collects no personal information from any user — child or adult — there is no data collection from children to disclose under laws such as the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) or similar regulations elsewhere.
If you believe a future version of this app has inadvertently collected information from a child, please contact us using the details below and we will investigate and remove it promptly.
Third parties
TabTap AAC does not use third-party advertising networks, analytics trackers, or data brokers. The app is hosted using standard web hosting infrastructure, which may log basic, anonymized technical information purely to keep the service running — this is standard hosting-provider behavior, not something we access or use to identify individuals.
Data security
Because TabTap AAC does not transmit or store personal data on our servers, there is no central database of user information that could be exposed in a breach. The main thing worth securing is the device itself — the usual good practices (keeping your device's software updated, using a screen lock, and being cautious with shared/public devices) are the most effective protection.
Your choices
- Clear local data — clear your browser's site data for this app at any time to remove all saved settings and favorites.
- Use privately — using a private/incognito browser window prevents anything from being saved between sessions.
- Switch languages freely — choosing Bisaya or English does not affect what is or isn't collected.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and describe the change plainly rather than burying it in legal language.
